Usually the first step is to let the student know all the areas of work of the company, to explain the activities that each area must perform and the role that each area has in the company organization. Having an intern through the screen could be difficult sometimes if you are not well prepared for. The employer should choose the proper intern that means that he/she can manage their own learning process; moreover, the company should take extra time to make him or her feels as a part of the group: chatting about other non-working issues like news or customs; therefore, for welcoming interns the employee should be concerned about his or her schedule and the regularity of every appointment.
From what has been said, it emerges that, at times, the greatest difficulty in approaching virtual training is given by the lack of preparation of the internal staff or the employer to use this tool. Especially in small businesses it is necessary to rely on tools such as virtual platforms to conduct the internship period in the best possible way.
As in traditional training, the company must organize and prepare itself in advance, defining processes and procedures that are clear and easy to understand. It is necessary to avoid in the first days to communicate in a confused way. It is necessary to present the organization with extreme precision, defining the lines of responsibility with extreme precision and how the information circulates in the company. Only after the intern understands these mechanisms perfectly is it possible to introduce it into the most complex work issues. In the early days the intern should devote a tutor to represent his reference as his guardian angel.
It is worth considering, in fact, that the intern is a subject in learning that relates to the world of work often for the first time; for him, the stage is something unknown, which in most cases has only vague or stereotypical knowledge.
The lack of experience can make the intern insecure and make it react, or with an excess of exuberance or too much confidentiality (which can result in poor autonomy). Both behaviors must be understood, because they reflect the state of uncertainty of a person who is preparing to live something unexplored, but who perceives it as important for his future.
