2.3 The Virtual Tutor
2.3.3 Selection of the virtual tutor

The choice of the virtual tutor is of fundamental importance, since it is a figure which performs functions that determine the quality of the internship.

It is a central figure in the route and is necessary, therefore, who possess adequate professional skills to support the student in his or her training path, encouraging their integration into the work environment and supporting the young person in carrying out the activities.

The virtual tutor is identified and appointed by the VET Institution, through a selection to which internal and/or external trainers from the VET institution may apply, provided that we meet the requirements of the Vet institution.

The selection notice also gives the possibility to take part in the selection even to young graduates who want to take advantage of their knowledge.

The requirements required for the selection of the tutor specifically relate to the following:

  • Age of majority;

  • A certificate of formal qualifications equal to or higher than the secondary school

  • At least one years' experience as a professional trainer.

The selection notice published by the Vet institution on the home page contains all the information needed to participate in the selection of the virtual tutor.

In case of an Ex-equo, the Vet institution will select the oldest candidate.

The VET Institution, following a selection notice, will draw up a ranking list on the basis of the evaluation of the qualifications submitted by the candidates.

The evaluation of curricula is validated by the body responsible for the training course, through a careful reading and study of the requirements identified in the curricula, a ranking will be drawn up and published by the VET institution.

The Vet institution, once published the ranking list, will inform the first candidate of the procedure for setting up the tutoring activity.

Subsequently, the virtual tutor's assignment is formalized; we proceed together with the person in charge of the training course, to draw up the training project for the realization of the internship.

Depending on the project requirements, the Vet Institution has the faculty to set up courses specifically dedicated to the training of virtual tutors.
