1.1 Teleworking and Virtual Traineeship in a Company
1.1.1 Teleworking

The traditional working in office, 9-5 job, is in decline. Teleworkers are often more productive than their in-office counterparts. In future, the number of teleworkers (graphic and web designers, HR specialists, PR specialists, accountants, marketing specialists, business consultants and many more) will continue to grow.

 

Teleworking is a mode of work. It is working at a distance: a work flexibility arrangement under which an employee/trainee performs his/ her duties and responsibilities from an appropriate space other than the location from which the employee would otherwise work. The worksite for teleworking can be the employee’s/ trainee’s residence, the university campus, the school building, a dormitory, a telework centre, Wi Fi public access points etc. Company policy permits employees/ trainees to telework when his/ her supervisor (or other designated official) evaluates the telework request and approves it. When evaluating the request, the supervisor must determine that the employee/ trainee can effectively perform the job duties of the position while teleworking.

 

Telework has several advantages: it often improves job satisfaction by increasing job flexibility; allows the company to retain valued employees/ trainees who might otherwise change jobs; any destinations can be reached easily and rapidly through the ICT, and it is cost efficient.

 

What remote tasks can trainees do during teleworking?

Trainees can also participate in working out recommendations for:

  • Modifications of the existing products,

  • Development of new products for selling in the target country,

  • Changes necessary for the traineeship provider company to maintain competitiveness,

  • Building relationships with customers,

  • Developing marketing strategies in the target market, etc.

In order to avoid work-from-home job scams, job seekers have to research the company, check out a company website or social media presence, online business complaint sites, and try to reach out people who work for the company. If the company does not have a website or any presence on social media, or a single review, most likely it is a job scam.
