3.1 Introduction
3.1.4 Multimedia Platform

Today there are numerous training platforms on the web that offer customers completely unexplored learning opportunities. The use of training platforms is now a consolidated tool for learning foreign languages and, the same telematic universities despite an initial period of skepticism are acquiring more and more users to the point that the same classical European universities have their own network learning channel. One of the major problems emerging in the creation of a virtual exchange platform is the assessment of learning skills, a process that must be structured following rigorous procedures and benchmarks, based on the main classifications and on the most accredited guidelines shared by the scientific community.

Starting from these premises, the major IT platforms offer a wide range of assessment tools and materials for didactic intervention, mainly on reading, writing and calculation. Today there are many IT platforms on the market, many free open source users that allow them to access a wide range of topics.

At first glance it may seem that the greatest advantage that the entry into the market of training and selection of staff of virtual platforms has given companies has been to significantly reduce the costs of selection, training and inclusion of inexperienced staff but it is not true. Of course cost reduction is certainly one of the main elements that push companies to use these platforms but it is not the main one.

The main advantages are given by elements other than cost and tend to focus on the ability to identify staff in line with the company mission and to customize the training of the intern. According to this logic, from the studies carried out with the companies that use these tools, the main advantages for companies are:

  • Customization and at the same time standardization of selection and learning processes. Having all the information in the same space allows the company tutor to use the accumulated experience to improve the processes and at the same time reduce the learning time by eliminating the modules or steps that the experience revealed to be non-productive Replicability of tools. The use of algorithms allows standardizing the start of the stage.

  • The use of algorithms reduces assessment time by reducing the possibility of prolonging internship experiences that are revealed in a first phase that is not very productive

  • Have flexible and customized monitoring and evaluation systems. Standardize the process of identifying the trainee's potential by creating a career path in line with the student's attitudes and expectations. This allows the company an efficient allocation of human resources avoiding to insert wrong people in the wrong context

  • The use of these systems makes it possible to verify the internal tiling process to eliminate any anomalies and inefficiencies.
