3.1 Introduction
3.1.1 The Role of the Company

In relation to the development of virtual internship and for the development of professional skills, the role of companies is fundamental. The companies are differentiated. Some are ability to intercept the market trends and the skills necessary to be leaders in the sector and the other are wagon companies that follow the market trend. In this context both types of companies increase relationships with universities, schools and research centers to create a symbiotic relationship that allows the businesses and the territory to develop. In this context it is necessary that companies together of all the actors of the territory guarantee economic development and stability both for the company and for the resident population (the example of Silicon Valley is symptomatic). It is therefore essential for companies to welcome students both when they are looking for work and during their study plan. This allows companies to interact with schools, universities and local authorities in the definition of study plans with market expectations and allows students to be able to consciously choose their future address.

Numerous initiatives have been put in place in recent years to create moments of confrontation between companies, schools, research and students, and the realization of a virtual internship allows companies themselves to assess the potential existing in territories other than the reference. On the other hand, the possibility for students from other countries to carry out virtual internship with foreign companies allows them to expand their cultural baggage acquiring habits and skills not present in their territory. This puts them in an advantageous position compared to students who do not have this opportunity. Finally, it allows them to expand their knowledge both in terms of potential employment and in terms of opportunities to seized in the business market. It is desirable that every student in the future can make a virtual internship at a foreign company to get out of their comfort zone and to measure themselves with different realities and different points of view.
